Editorial standards

The principles we hold ourselves to when we recommend anything to our community.

Our principles

  • Independence — if and when we publish rankings, they will never be sold or swapped for commission rates.
  • Honest labelling — until a guide is backed by evidenced, hands-on testing, we present it as an informational comparison, not a review or recommendation.
  • Transparency — any affiliate relationship will be disclosed on the page before a tracked link goes live.
  • Paid listings stay separate — paid business placements are advertising and never influence editorial guidance.
  • Evidence before claims — we don't publish testing claims, ratings or scores without a record of who tested what, and when.

What this means in practice

Right now, our product and brand pages are informational comparisons based on publicly available information — not hands-on reviews or recommendations, and we say so on the page. Paid business listings are advertising and never influence editorial guidance. If we ever introduce affiliate links or formal rankings, commission rates won't determine them — we'd rather earn less than mislead our readers.

This page is maintained by the Happy As Life editorial team and updated as our standards evolve.
